Pilates Class level - We would prefer you to complete at least
one Beginners course before a member progresses onto a higher course
level. The levels described here are general as the level of a class
may adjust according to the level of the individuals in the class.
The teacher will check any injurys at the start of the class so
if there is a specific exercise you would like or need to avoid
please let the instructor know at the beginning.
Beginners Pilates - The course will start at a low level and the
exercises are designed to help you understand the basic principles
of Pilates mat exercises and the Pilates method. You will also cover
posture alignment and muscle imbalance. Some of the exercises have
levels and within a course you may progress to the harder level
if you feel your body is capable of this, the teacher will correct
throughout the class and help you assess how to improve and the
level you are capable of.
Higher Beginners - This class is for Beginners who feel they can
progress from a beginner but are not yet ready to join an improvers
class maybe due to an ongoing injury. It will be a faster class
and there will be more levels of an exercise offered so you work
to your own pace.
Improvers Pilates - The course will take you to a high intermediate
level and assume you know the principles of Pilates. The class will
move faster and you will cover many of the Pilates exercises over
the course. The teacher will push you to try a harder level but
still check and correct your positioning.
Power Pilates - This is a harder class that moves faster with faster
music so there will be a cardio vascular element to some of the
moves. It may be more repetitive on some exercises to achieve a
toning affect on the body. -New Tabata training introduced in the
Power Pilates classes - It was discovered by Dr Izumi Tabata in
Tokyo and found to be the single most effective type of high intensity
interval training, it's also the most intense by far, and surprisingly
it's the shortest in duration, it only last for four minutes...
but those four minutes produce remarkable effects. Dr. Tabata discovered
that this kind of interval training produces much better results
than aerobic training. This included building as much muscular endurance
as forty five minutes of normal cardio training. In fact in the
study the subjects increased their anaerobic capacity by over a
quarter as well a substantial increase in their aerobic fitness.
Pilates Toning - This class is shorter at only 45 mins and may use
bands and balls to achieve toning on a concentrated areas of the
legs, bums and tums.
